The Barn (built 1640) is a beautiful detached two bedroomed stone building in Wheatley a village a short bus trip to Oxford. Wheatley has a variety of local shops, restaurants & pubs, a children's play ground, beautiful country walks

The Barn is a detached stone building dating back to 1640; fully double glazed, centrally heated and lovingly converted into a two bedroomed, two reception room dwelling with all required appliances. There is a TV, blue-ray DVD, CD & tape deck and a keyboard for guest's use. All children are welcome but the barn has a spiral staircase which may not be safe for uncontrolled toddlers. We can provide a cot for a small extra, one off, fee - please let us know if you require one. The Barn is securely enclosed on our land, our garden is walled and available to guests with free apples - in season. We have a friendly dog. Parking is on the road - permit free; or car parks are available within a short walking distance. It is also possible to walk on public footpaths from Wheatley to the 117 hectare Shotover Country Park to enjoy spectacular views of South Oxfordshire or quiet secluded animal habitats.  Wheatley is well serviced village and has a butcher, bakery, coffee shop, pharmacy, antique shop, churches, Co-Operative & Costcutter food shops, hair salons, a General Practice, a complementary medicine centre, the Oxford School for English, a children's playground,a bank and Post Office. In addition there are two restaurants in walking distance - one serves Thai food the other Indian - both also serve takeaways. There are also two Chinese takeaways and a fish & chip shop. Wheatley has four pubs - including at least one real ale pub and pub food is easily available. All of these services are within walking distance. A large Asda supermarket - with the cheapest petrol in the area - is about a 5 minute drive away. Wheatley, founded in the Anglo-Saxon era, lies 6 miles south-east of the centre of Oxford with easy access to/from the M40. There are two frequent bus services linking Wheatley and Oxford making it simple to visit Oxford's treasured colleges, museums (Pitt Rivers, Ashmolean, Natural History, History of Science), the many university parks, or the theatre (try the Creation Theatre Company). Buses are also available to some surrounding small villages - but these are less frequent. There are every 15 minutes bus links between London and Oxford and a regular service between Heathrow/Gatwick and Oxford - one of the stops is close to Wheatley  If you come by car Bicester village with its discounted fashion designer boutiques is a simple 20 minute drive from Wheatley and there are numerous ancient Cotswold villages to visit less than an hours drive away. Guests who have stayed in the Barn have also visited Stonehenge and Bath with ease as well as the beautiful Waterperry gardens.
